LiteON has launched its iHAP422-98 ReWriter with LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling Technology, to dress them up.  LightScribe Technology will enable you to easily create customized, silkscreen-quality labels directly on CDs and DVDs using a combination of LightScribe-compatible media, recordable optical drives and special software.

The LITEON Lightscribe IDE iHAP422-98 22X DVD±R/W Recorder writes both DVD+R/W and DVD-R/W discs.  Not only does it support the two major DVD recording formats, but it writes to these discs quickly, up to 22X speed (maximum performance is achievable when system and media meet basic requirements).  And, supports recording at 8X DVD+R on Double Layer media and 8X DVD-R on Dual Layer media.  And, the LightScribe Technology enables you to create customized, professional quality labels directly on CD-R's and DVD±R's.  Also, supports recording to DVD-RAM, at up to 12X speed.

The LITEON Lightscribe IDE iHAP422-98 22X DVD±R/W Recorder employs SMART-BURN, avoiding buffer underrun errors, automatically adjusting writing strategy & running OPC to provide the best burning quality.  The LITEON Lightscribe IDE iHAP422-98 22X DVD±R/W Recorder employs the SMART-X function to adjust CD-DA/VCD/DVD data extraction to the fastest allowable speed, according to both data request rate from host and disk quality.  The ABS® system reduces vibration and noise during recording and reading.

The LITEON Lightscribe IDE iHAP422-98 22X DVD±R/W Recorder employs SMART-ERASE, an advanced technology to permanently erase data on a disc.  “Quick Erase” only erases the information stored in the lead-in area and data stored on the first track of the disc.  As a result, a drive can not read the disc anymore, but with data recovery software there is a chance that some data can still be recovered from the parts of the disc that have not been overwritten.  “Full Erase” overwrites the complete disc.  It takes more time then a “Quick Erase”, but all the data will be permanently erased.
